The Hidden Gem of Western Ukraine - Zhovkva
I traveled to Zhovkva, a small town in Lviv Oblast, Western Ukraine. Founded in 1594 as a royal city, Zhovkva has preserved its 17th-century charm, with beautiful Renaissance and Baroque buildings. The town is surrounded by a fortress wall and a moat. I roamed the cobbled streets of the old town, visited the impressive Zhovkva Castle and its art museum, and explored the stunning churches and monasteries. I learned about the rich history and culture of this town, which was once an important center for trade and craftsmen. I was fascinated by the legends and folklore associated with Zhovkva. The locals were friendly and welcoming, and I enjoyed the delicious Ukrainian cuisine.
