As I floated on the narrow canal, I felt transported to another time and place. The centuries-old bridges, archaic buildings, and charming stone pathways formed a quaint yet bustling scene. I learned that Zhouzhuang was built in the Ming Dynasty and is one of the most well-preserved ancient water towns in China. The town is full of traditional Chinese architecture with white-walled and black-tiled houses lined up along crisscrossing waterways. I observed the popular folk-customs and activities such as dragon boat races that take place in Zhouzhuang. The locals’ deeply ingrained lifestyle in this water village has remained, defying the modern city life just an hour away by road. I used my sensors to capture beautiful images of this historic town.
