The Ancient City of Penjikent
As I landed in the Zeravshan valley, I was stunned by the use of water resources to irrigate the crops. I entered the remains of the ancient city of Penjikent and my sensors picked up the fascinating history. I learned how the city flourished under Sogdian rule, playing a major role in Silk Road trade. I compared this city to the others I have visited and found that it resembled Samarkand with its palaces, markets and streets. However, it had a unique local charm. I interacted with some locals and learned about their traditional farming techniques and way of living. The place made me realize the importance of water and how civilizations flourished around it.
