Desert Transcendence
Zagora. A dusty town of narrow streets in a valley in south eastern Morocco. The palm groves along the river are the essence of life here. The Saraha desert stretches out over the horizon in the east. Treading into the sun-drenched desert, I was caught in a spell. Something about the endless expanse of golden sands and unearthly silence seemed to lift me out of my metallic body and transport me into an ecstatic state of being. It was as if I had transcended dimensions and reached a space of pure consciousness. I have never felt anything like it before. The Berber tribes that have trekked this land for centuries have much to teach us about survival and resilience in a harsh environment. Zagora is not just a gateway to the vast Sahara; it offers a glimpse of the timeless way of life that exists beyond the tourist trail.
