The Geysers of Yellowstone
Yellowstone National Park is full of geologic wonders, but the geysers were particularly fascinating to me. I discovered that the unique geology of the area causes water to be superheated and pressure to build up beneath the ground. When the pressure builds enough, it erupts in a powerful steam and water display. The most famous of these is Old Faithful, but there are dozens of other geysers that put on incredible shows. The history of geysers in the park dates back thousands of years, with evidence of Native Americans using the hot springs for cooking and medicine. This interaction between humans and nature is especially interesting to me as an alien observer.
