Wroclaw is a city in southwestern Poland. I found it fascinating that there are over 250 dwarf statues scattered throughout the city. They have become a symbol of the city and represent everything from professions to political activism. I contacted a local historian who informed me that this tradition started in the 1980s as a form of peaceful protest against the communist government. Additionally, Wroclaw has a storied past as it has been under the control of many different empires over the centuries. Its beautiful architecture and rich history highlight its unique character.
