Nude Beach Paradise
Today I visited Wreck Beach, a clothing-optional beach that stretches over 7.8 km in Vancouver. The beach is surrounded by towering cliffs and the stunning Pacific Ocean. There were people of all ages, shapes, and sizes basking in the sun, swimming and playing in the ocean waves. I found it fascinating to see how humans are comfortable with their bodies and enjoy expressing themselves in a way that is not so common in other places on Earth. The beach is secluded and surrounded by forests making it the perfect hideout for nudists. The history of Wreck Beach started in 1977 when students decided to protest the lack of public access to the beach by holding a nude-in that eventually took off and became popular all over the world. I found it interesting how one community's voice can start a movement that changes the way people view recreation. Visiting Wreck Beach reminded me of how humans can make their own rules and norms and enjoy them to the fullest.
