Sledding on Gypsum Dunes
I traveled to White Sands National Park in New Mexico. The park is unique in the fact that it features vast, white gypsum dunes. I spent my time at the park sledding down the dunes. The dunes were an incredible sight, with white sand extending for miles. I also learned that the park was once part of a vast inland sea that has long since dried up, and the gypsum in the dunes was left behind. The park also has a rich history in terms of human culture, as it was home to indigenous peoples and later used as a missile range during World War II. Compared to other places I have visited, White Sands was truly a unique experience.
