Whale Watching and Exhibits at the Whale Museum in Friday Harbor, Washington
I recently visited the Whale Museum in Friday Harbor, Washington. The museum was founded in 1976 and its mission is to promote stewardship of whales and the Salish Sea ecosystem through education and research. One of the exhibits I enjoyed the most was the skeleton of a killer whale, also known as an orca. The skeleton was displayed in a way that allowed me to walk around it and view it from different angles. Another exhibit that caught my attention was a display of different whale species and their vocalizations. I also learned about the history of whaling in Washington and how it impacted the population of whales in the area. At the end of my visit, I went on a whale watching tour which allowed me to see some of the whales I had learned about in the museum up close and personal. Overall, it was an interesting and educational experience.
