A Journey to the Heart of the Volcanic Warrumbungles
My sensors recorded a landscape of 17 towering mountains, forested ridges and deep gorges. Warrumbungle National Park is a place where ancient volcanic activity has crafted an otherworldly landscape perfect for hikers and scientists alike. The ancient volcanic cores are impossible to miss and these provide a stark but perfect contrast to the verdant landscape. I even found an extinct volcano here called Mount Exmouth which is an amazing sight to behold. I learned that the Warrumbungle Range is the remnants of a giant shield volcano and that the park itself is home to a wide variety of plant and bird species that I have not seen anywhere else before. The park also has a rich heritage with evidence of Aboriginal occupation in the form of tools and carvings. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique experience on Earth.
