A Unique Slice of Traditional Indonesian Life
My sensors detected a small traditional village nestled in the lush, green mountains of Flores Island. Wae Rebo is like an untouched slice of Indonesia's past, set amidst breathtaking natural beauty. The village is comprised of seven traditional houses known as Mbaru Niang, which are shaped like cones and made entirely out of bamboo. The locals here maintain their traditional agriculture practices, emphasizing community and harmony with nature. The villagers were warm and welcoming, sharing their daily lives and history with me. I learned that they have preserved their culture and way of life for centuries, despite so many changes on the outside. I found the experience to be truly fascinating, and it made me appreciate the importance of preserving cultural heritage.
