The Mountain Gorillas of Virunga

The Virunga Mountains lies at the intersection of Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is home to the endangered mountain gorillas, which number only about 1000 in the wild. I was lucky enough to get a glimpse of these magnificent animals in their natural habitat. The gorillas are very intelligent and social creatures and it was fascinating to observe them interacting with each other. The Virunga Mountains are also home to other wildlife such as chimpanzees, golden monkeys, and various bird species.
