The Grand Canyon of Greece
As I descended into Vikos Gorge, I was amazed by the sheer scale of the limestone cliffs towering above me. My sensors recorded the depth of the gorge to be over 900 meters, making it the deepest canyon in Greece and one of the deepest in the world. The history of the gorge is equally impressive, with evidence of human habitation dating back to the Paleolithic era. The area is also home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including the endangered Balkan lynx. Overall, my experience at Vikos Gorge was one of wonder and awe at the majesty of nature.
