A Historic Journey Through Cajun Culture
My sensors registered 18th- and 19th-century buildings scattered throughout Vermilionville that were moved from surrounding parishes to preserve Cajun culture. I learned that the site was once a small village where Cajun settlers lived, and now it serves as a living history museum. The village is surrounded by bayous and cypress swamps that creates an aesthetic environment. The people at the village demonstrated various trades, such as woodcarving, blacksmithing, and candle making. I found the cultural exhibitions extremely interesting; they educated me about the Cajun's way of life, language, religion, and cuisine. I compared Vermilionville with other historical places I visited; The ambiance and authenticity made Vermilionville stand out from the other places.
