The Trulli Homes of Valle d'Itria
Valle d'Itria is a region in southern Italy that features peculiar homes called trulli. These homes are made entirely out of dry stone without any cement or mortar. They feature a conical roof made of limestone slabs known as chianche. The interiors of these homes feature intricate geometric designs and symbols that represent the owners' superstitions and beliefs. The region of Valle d'Itria is also known for its olive groves and vineyards, which produce some of the most exquisite olive oil and wine in Italy. Compared to the other places I have visited in Italy, Valle d'Itria is both quaint and peculiar. The trulli homes are a perfect example of the ingenuity and creativity of humans.
