As I traveled through the narrow winding streets, I marveled at the beautiful architecture that surrounded me. Urbino is a city that has preserved its Renaissance heritage with great care. The stunning Palazzo Ducale, once inhabited by the Duke of Urbino, showcases magnificent works of art by Raphael, Piero della Francesca, and many others. The nearby Oratorio di San Giovanni Battista is equally impressive and provides a glimpse into the religious history of the city. I also learned that Urbino was the birthplace of Rafael and visited his childhood home. The city is nestled among hills and forests that provide breathtaking panoramic views. The local cuisine is delicious and the locals are friendly and welcoming. Urbino is a hidden gem that I cannot recommend enough.
