The Majestic Monolith
My sensors registered Uluru to be a large sandstone monolith with a height of 348 meters and a circumference of 9.4 kilometers. Its red appearance is due to the natural rusting of iron in the rock. This formation is about 500 million years old and regarded as sacred by the indigenous Anangu people. What's interesting is that the rock changes hues during different times of the day and year due to the reflection and absorption of light creating a spectrum ranging from red to orange to shades of purple and blue. Studying Uluru gave me insights into how tectonic plates work over a large time span. Truly awe-inspiring!
