A Walk Among Tallest Trees of Delaware
My sensors registered a unique forest ecosystem in the Trap Pond State Forest. Upon further analysis, I observed quaking aspens, red maples, tulip poplars, and bald cypress trees. The forest floor was covered in ferns, wildflowers, and lichens. One interesting fact is that bald cypress trees can live up to 1,500 years. The forest was once home to the indigenous Nanticoke tribe and was later used as a logging camp. I found it fascinating to observe the resilience of this forest after so many years of human interference.
