The Road to the Clouds
I found myself driving on a winding road, next to rocky cliffs and glistening waterfalls. The Transfagarasan Highway is a masterful feat of engineering, rising to an altitude of over 2000 meters. I learned that it was built as a strategic military route, and that it remains closed for much of the year due to snowfall. The scenery was breathtaking and I couldn't help but compare it to other mountain roads I've visited in Europe. The beauty of the drive was heightened by the rich history of the region.
