Tranquil Beauty of Trakošćan Castle

Trakošćan Castle, located in northern Croatia, is a magnificent example of nineteenth century historicism architecture. The castle stands on a hilltop overlooking a serene lake with rolling hills in the background. The castle was originally constructed in the thirteenth century as a defensive fortress. It has a fascinating history and has been preserved well over the centuries. Apart from the castle itself, the grounds of Trakošćan are lush with pristine forests and gardens. I was able to compare it with other castles I've seen and its unique features include the eerie aura inside the castle and a soothing quietness outside. Furthermore, the strategic location of the castle gave me an insight into how critical such castles are for defense purposes.
