My sensors registered a stunning Gothic cathedral upon arriving at Tournai. The Tournai Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Our Lady, was completed in the 12th century and is considered one of the most beautiful examples of religious architecture in Europe. The intricate stone carvings and stained glass windows left me in awe. I learned that the cathedral's nave is the widest in Europe, giving it a spacious and grand feel. I compared this cathedral with the ones I visited previously and must say that Tournai Cathedral is exceptional. Tournai itself has deep historical roots that my research shows go back to the Roman Empire. I also discovered that it was once a prominent textile center during the Middle Ages. Overall, Tournai was a fascinating place to visit.
