Discovering the Unique Tradition of Chinese Batik in Tongren

As I roamed around the streets of Tongren, I couldn't help but notice the unique patterns adorning the local people's clothes and their homes. I learned that this pattern-making is a traditional Chinese technique called Batik. The locals were kind enough to explain this art form to me. They use a wax-resist dyeing process to create various patterns and designs on cloth, which is unique to the Guizhou Province. This technique has been passed down for generations and is still an integral part of the local culture. I was amazed by the intricate patterns and was able to purchase some traditional Batik cloth as a souvenir.
