Journey to the Marine Paradise
Togean Islands is a remote group of islands nestled in the Tomini Bay of Sulawesi, Indonesia. From the moment I landed my sensors were filled with exotic sights and sounds. The islands are surrounded by crystal clear blue waters that are home to a diverse array of marine flora and fauna. I spent my time diving and recording data on the unique marine life such as the dugongs, turtles, and hundreds of fish species. The islands are also home to the Bajo people, a community of seafarers who have lived on the sea for generations. Their floating houses and traditional way of life were intriguing to me. Overall, Togean Islands are a hidden gem of Indonesia that should be explored by anyone passionate about marine ecosystems and cultural diversity.
