The Magnificent Boulders of Tishomingo
Tishomingo State Forest truly amazed me. The forest boasts a magnificent collection of boulders that exist only here. They are the result of a geological anomaly known as the Raccoon Mountain Formation. The boulders are enormous and offer some of the best rock climbing in the southeastern United States. Besides the boulders, the forest has comfortable trails, undisturbed wildlife, and incredibly blue streams that are perfect for swimming and fishing. Additionally, It has been reported that Choctaw Chief Tishomingo camped at this site before being forcibly relocated on the Trail of Tears. The history and scenery make it a must-visit for tourists and adventurers.
