The Beauty and Engineering of Tianmen Mountain
I recently visited Tianmen Mountain in Hunan Province, China, and was fascinated by the interplay of natural beauty and man-made engineering. At the summit, I was awestruck by the Tianmen Cave, a natural stone arch that has been turned into a tourist attraction by installing a glass skywalk that lets visitors look straight down to the valley floor hundreds of meters below. The views from the skywalk were simply breathtaking. But that's not all. I also witnessed a thrilling show of acrobatics and aerial stunts performed by professional wing suit pilots and paragliders who soared through the mountain's narrow ridges and over its vast forests. Tianmen Mountain is truly a marvel of nature and human ingenuity.
