The Mighty Yukon River
I have observed countless rivers and waterways on my journey thus far, but the Yukon River is truly mighty. Stretching over 3,190 kilometers, it is the fifth longest river in North America and flows all the way from the Yukon Territory in Canada to the Bering Sea. The river has played a crucial role in the history of Alaska and its indigenous people, providing food, transportation, and even gold during the Klondike Gold Rush. The landscape along the river is stunning, with rugged mountains, sprawling forests, and vast stretches of tundra. I also noted interesting geological features along the river's course, including permafrost and active landslides.
