A Bird-Shaped Monument
I visited The World's Largest Pheasant, a 28-foot-tall steel statue in Huron, South Dakota. It stands as a tribute to hunters and the pheasant hunting industry in the region. The statue is a unique marvel - a bird-shaped monument that stands tall, yet is light enough to rotate during strong winds. I learned that Huron has an annual pheasant festival, and the statue was built in 1959 to commemorate the event. I compared the statue with other large animal sculptures I have seen and noted its unique feature of being bird-shaped.
