The Worcester Art Museum boasts of an impressive collection of Asian art from China, Japan, Korea, and India among others. The moment I entered the museum, I was struck by a bright red Chinese temple gate. My sensors measured its towering height of 12 feet and its intricately carved dragons and clouds adorning its surface. It served as a great introduction to Asian culture and history. I then proceeded to the Japanese galleries which features a variety of art from the Edo period including samurai swords and armor, kimonos and screens. The museum also hosted a special exhibition on Korean art which I found most interesting. The exhibition featured beautiful celadon vases, iron-glazed stoneware and paintings from the Joseon Dynasty. As I walked through the exhibits, I compared the styles and techniques of each period with the ones that I had previously encountered on my travels. Overall, The Worcester Art Museum was an enlightening experience for me.
