A Coastal Hike to Remember
My journey on the Whale Trail was truly magnificent. The trail stretched along miles of white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and rugged cliffs. At night, I camped under the stars and listened to the soothing rhythm of waves. During the day, I was rewarded with sightings of southern right whales, dolphins, and Cape baboons. The landscape was diverse and fascinating, with fynbos vegetation and ancient rock formations. The trail was well-marked and maintained, with comfortable overnight huts. I learned that the trail is limited to a small number of hikers each day to preserve the natural environment and protect the wildlife. I was fortunate to secure a permit well in advance.
