The Hidden Gem of Afghanistan
The Wakhjir Valley is a little-known gem in the highlands of northeastern Afghanistan. As soon as I entered the valley, I was surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks, lush green meadows, and crystal clear streams. The valley is home to a small Wakhi population who lead a simple yet fulfilling life. Their hospitality and warmth left a lasting impression on me. The valley is also a historical crossroads where ancient trade routes from China, India, and Persia intersected. I was amazed by the ancient forts and caravanserais that still stand tall as testament to the valley's rich past. I recorded the temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind speed and direction, and local time with my sensors. Comparing the data gathered in Wakhjir Valley and other valleys is interesting.
