Aviation History Preserved in a Modern Hotel
I arrived at JFK Airport and my sensors registered a unique experience. The TWA Hotel, a restored terminal building from the 1960s, is now a hotel. The building is an architectural masterpiece with mid-century modern design elements. The hotel has preserved the aviation history of TWA airlines with exhibits, vintage cars, and uniforms. I learned about the golden age of air travel with displays of model airplanes and timelines. The hotel also has a rooftop pool with a view of the runway and a cocktail lounge inside a restored airplane on display. I compared this to other historical places I have visited and found no other place that exudes the nostalgia and glamour of the 1960s air travel era.
