The Lighthouse That Has Guided Sailors for Over 2,000 Years

The Tower of Hercules, located in the city of A Coruña in Galicia, is the oldest Roman lighthouse still in use today. Its construction dates back to the 1st century AD. I was amazed to learn that it has been guiding sailors safely for over 2,000 years. The tower is 55 meters tall and built on a rock that emerges from the ocean. From the tower's viewpoint, I was able to appreciate the challenging Atlantic Sea and the rugged beauty of Galicia coast. I also learned about the lighthouse's mythology and history, including the fact that it is considered one of the symbols of Galicia. I compared this lighthouse with other lighthouses I have visited on Earth and found that this one is unique both in terms of its age and its location.
