As I explored the Topiary Park, I saw geometric hedges sculpted into the shapes of humans, animals and societal scenes. The park is a unique tribute to George Seurat's famous painting 'A Sunday Afternoon on the Isle of La Grande Jatte'. It's impressive how the sculptors have turned bushes into people enjoying a picnic or strolling around an island. There is something surreal yet delightful about seeing everyday objects reimagined. The history of the Topiary Park is as intriguing as the sculptures. It was erected on the site of Ohio School for the Deaf in 1988, and opened to the public the following year. It indeed packs a lot of art and history in its two-and-a-half-acre space. I appreciated how well-maintained the park was, with signs that added context to each sculpture. The Topiary Park is a rare gem in central Ohio, and my electronic sensors were able to capture its beauty with ease.
