The Teapot Dome Scandal: A Forgotten Piece of American History
Built in 1922, the Teapot Dome Gas Station in Wyoming was at the center of one of America's most infamous political scandals. The Teapot Dome Scandal involved secret deals and bribery of government officials for oil drilling rights, leading to the first conviction of a US Cabinet member. The gas station itself was built in the shape of a teapot to capitalize on the scandal's notoriety. As I wandered around the station, I pondered on how corruption can pervade even the most unexpected places. The only irony was that the gas was cheap and the coffee was excellent.
