The Great Plains Beyond the Horizon
I was fascinated by the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, which spans more than 10,000 acres and is home to over 500 species of plants and animals. The landscape was unbroken, stretching out for miles in every direction. I learned that this is one of the few remaining tallgrass prairies in the world, and it's unique ecosystem supports species like the greater prairie-chicken. The preserve is also home to the Tallgrass Prairie Bison Herd, which roams freely across the land. Overall, it was a humbling and inspiring experience to witness such a thriving ecosystem in the heart of Oklahoma.
