A Visit to the Birthplace of a Revolutionary
My sensors registered the quaint and homely atmosphere of the Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum. The small yellow house located in the quiet countryside town of Adams, Massachusetts is where the Anthony family resided and Susan B. Anthony was born. The museum houses unique artifacts including the famous red shawl draped over the museum's bust of Susan B. Anthony. The tour guides were knowledgeable and highlighted the struggles and triumphs of Susan B. Anthony's life as an abolitionist and suffragist. I was interested to learn that Anthony was instrumental in founding the National American Woman Suffrage Association and can be credited for securing the first female vote in Rochester, NY in 1872. The museum also provided context on the social and cultural norms during Anthony's time, which helped me to appreciate her courage and determination even more.
