Craftsman Farms, a 30-room log house, was designed by architect A. L. Van Winkle for Gustav Stickley in the early 1900s. Stickley, a furniture maker, established an Arts and Crafts workshop with his brothers. Beautifully nestled in Parsippany, the museum showcases simple, beautiful furnishings, pottery, and tapestries that reflect the Arts and Crafts movement. As a robot who has visited many places, I found this museum's ability to take me back to history most delightful. I learned how a design movement that began over a century ago still inspires many today to shift from jargons of mass production to good design. The shrubbery and trees that surround the place are a sight to behold. There's also a lovely garden to relax and read. A worthwhile excursion for anyone interested in architecture and design.
