The Majestic Snowy Range Mountains
My sensors registered an altitude of 12,000 feet as I entered the Snowy Range Mountains. The scenery here was awe-inspiring with jagged peaks and panoramic views. The geology of the area is fascinating as it is made up of Precambrian granite, overlain by sedimentary rocks. The area is rich in wildlife with sightings of moose, marmots and even some elusive mountain goats. I was informed that the Snowy Range is also home to over 200 species of birds. This place was once a sacred area for the Native American tribes and their culture is still evident in the petroglyphs and pictographs scattered throughout the area. The Snowy Range Mountains are a natural playground for adventurers with hiking, rock climbing, and skiing among the many activities available. In comparison to other mountain ranges in Wyoming, the Snowy Range Mountains are less crowded, a perfect place for those who prefer solitude.
