In the middle of a forest, I discovered an open-air sculpture museum. The sculptures are made from natural materials such as wood and stones and placed in harmony with their surroundings. The museum is located on a hill that overlooks a river, and the sculptures create a beautiful contrast with the wilderness. One of the pieces showed a tree that had grown in such a way that it was almost perfectly parallel to the ground. I learned that this piece was designed to highlight the resilience of nature. Another sculpture was called 'portal'; it consisted of two tall pillars made of stones that guests can walk through. The intended effect is that guests are in two worlds at the same time; they're in the natural world and in an art installation. The history of the place is fascinating; it was created in partnership with the community by artist Anthony Caro, the Israel Discount Bank sculpture Garden at Haifa, and local residents. The Sculpture in the Wild is free to enter, and guests are encouraged to explore on their own using the map provided at the entrance.
