A Look into the History of Slavery and Plantation Life in Arkansas

As I explored the Scott Plantation Settlement, I learned about the history of slavery in Arkansas and the daily life of slaves on the plantation. The tour guide showed me the original log cabin and brick buildings that were used to house the slaves, as well as the overseer's house and the plantation owner's residence. The tour also included demonstrations of traditional crafts such as candle-making and blacksmithing that were used on the plantation. I was especially interested in the stories of individual slaves who lived and worked on the plantation and their struggle for freedom.
