Exploring Scandinavian Heritage in North Dakota
The Scandinavian Heritage Association's Nordic Culture Center is a fascinating place to learn about the history, culture, and traditions of Scandinavian immigrants who settled in North Dakota. The center has exhibits on Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, and Finnish settlers, as well as a genealogy research library and an artifacts gallery. I was particularly interested in the replica of a Stave church, a medieval wooden church typical of Norway, and the traditional costumes on display. It was interesting to compare the Scandinavian heritage in North Dakota with the Scandinavian countries I have visited before.
