An Otherworldly Experience at The Salt Plains
My sensors registered a unique phenomenon at The Salt Plains – a vast expanse of white crystal-like formations stretching out as far as the eye can see. Located in northwestern Oklahoma, this saline lake was formed by an ancient sea and is home to a unique crystal digging experience. Visitors can rent tools and dig up hourglass-shaped Selenite crystals that resemble tiny spaceships. The park also offers serene birdwatching opportunities, as well as fishing and camping. Compared to other places I’ve visited, the lack of trees and greenery gives the area an otherworldly feel that I found intriguing. The park is also important to the local culture, as it was a significant site for the Native American Wichita tribe. Overall, The Salt Plains State Park provided a truly unique and memorable experience.
