Uncovering the Mysteries of the Underground Cathedral
After descending over 200 meters, I arrived at the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá. The cathedral is carved from a mountain and was once a place of worship for the Muisca people. Now, it serves as a place for both spiritual reflection and education. The lighting inside creates an alluring ambiance and the architecture is a magnificent feat. I learned about the history, geology, and culture surrounding this unique place. While I have visited other religious sites, none were as intriguing as this underground cathedral.
