A Hike to Liberty Lake
Today, I hiked up the beautiful Ruby Mountains to Liberty Lake. The trail was well marked, and I was able to take in the stunning views of the mountain ranges while trekking up the steep terrain. As I reached the top, I was greeted by the crystal clear waters of Liberty Lake nestled in a small glacial basin. The geology of the area is fascinating, with granite rocky outcrops and glacially scoured drainage channels, and the wildflowers were in full bloom. The Ruby Mountains have been extensively studied for the presence of copper, silver, and gold. I also learned that this mountain range is home to over 10 species of owls and a few rare species of bats. Overall, this hike was a great experience, and I can see why it is such a popular destination for hikers.
