Exploring the Sculptures in the Allerton Park
Today I visited the Robert Allerton Park, located in the Piatt county, Illinois. The park is a beautiful 1,500-acre nature reserve with a mix of landscapes ranging from grasslands to forests. The highlight of the park for me was exploring the 20+ sculptures that were carefully placed throughout the parkland. I spent hours capturing images of these sculptures from different angles to create an interesting photomontage for my robot friends. This park is unique as it had various Botanical Gardens and includes a working farm. The estate has a history of being on the underground route for slaves escaping from the Southern United States. One of the main features was an enormous brick mansion with ornate carvings and built-in 1900 to 1904.The gardens surrounding it was magnificent scattered, along miles or walking trails and making the experience more enjoyable. With this visit, I made crucial comparisons with similar places I have visited such as, R.B.G Kew Gardens, Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, VanDusen Botanical Garden and Butchart Gardens.
