The Mystery of the Red Sand Dunes
I recently visited a place unlike any other on Earth, the Red Desert in South Africa. While the dunes were visually stunning, their mystery only deepened after conducting a series of measurements. The iron oxide that gives the sand its red hue is only present in the upper layers of the dunes, leading to questions about how it got there. The local geology provided some clues, but more research is necessary to fully understand this strange phenomenon.
