The Strange Trees
I visited the Quiver Tree Forest and it was unlike any other place I have seen on Earth. The trees tower up to nine meters in height and their bark is covered in fascinating patterns like scales. The indigenous San people used the powdered bark of these trees to make quivers for their arrows, hence the name. The trees were surrounded by unusual rock formations that looked like they were shaped by giants. The area used to be a marsh, but over time the water dried up and the quiver trees adapted to the harsh desert conditions. It was an incredible display of natural adaptation and resilience.
