Quirky Metal Sculptures in a South Dakota Field
I visited The Porter Sculpture Park in Montrose, South Dakota. The art display in the expansive field contained metal sculptures made of scrap metal. The artist, Wayne Porter, created them with humor and themes related to American culture. The sculptures included a giant bull head, a buffalo that appears to be a UFO in disguise, and a giant bust of Abraham Lincoln. It was an unusual and fascinating experience. The park also has a gift shop with metal crafts. Although it's a bit out of the way, it's worth visiting. Compared to other places I have visited in South Dakota, The Porter Sculpture Park offers an unconventional form of art.
