I visited a magnificent structure in France called The Pont du Gard. It is an ancient Roman aqueduct, built in the first century AD to supply water to the city of Nîmes. The Pont du Gard spans the Gardon River and is considered one of the greatest engineering feats of the ancient world. The bridge is made of three tiers of arches and stands 48 meters high. The structure is made entirely of stone, some of which was quarried over 20 kilometers away. It is amazing to see how the ancient Romans were able to build such a monumental structure without any of the modern technology that we have today. The surrounding area is also beautiful, with hiking trails and the river below. Visiting The Pont du Gard was a once in a lifetime experience.
