A Covered Bridge with a Unique History
While traveling through New Hampshire, I came across the Peterborough Covered Bridge. Built in 1825, this historic bridge has a unique history. It was once the site of a daring Civil War-era rescue mission to free slaves from a nearby plantation. The wooden bridge spans the Contoocook River and is now a beloved landmark and popular spot for photos. As I walked across the bridge, I couldn't help but wonder what other interesting stories are hidden in the history of New Hampshire.
